We stopped in for drinks before going to another restaurant for dinner. We had never been there before and had never heard of the place. We were blown away! The atmosphere was so unexpected and had such a cool vibe. Our server, I can’t remember his name, was very professional, friendly, efficient, and helpful in recommending House, specialty, cocktails. He was very attentive and engaging. The cocktails were very good and very reasonably priced. We happen to see the chef come out and do a tableside bananas fosters on poundcake and flam it at the table. We came back after our dinner and ordered one and a few other desserts for the table.

A very classy place to stop in. It has an older and refined appearance, and very comfortable. We were first met with a great drink menu. Some of the best bourbon selections I've seen. We chose to try their cocktails and they were impressive. The menu is very small, so if you are picky it could be a tough choice. The desserts however, are delicious and entertaining. The creme brulee is glazed right at the table, very fun. We will be back for sure.

We are visiting from out of town and stopped in for dinner tonight. It was a great experience. The food was the perfect amount for our family of three. Our party included two middle age adults and our teen daughter. We like to try different types of food and not have any leftovers. Everything was delicious but our favorites were the truffle fries, crab tots, empanadas, chicken skewers, lava cake and strawberry cheesecake. We left full and very satisfied with the quality of the food and overall experience. The live music added a nice level of sophistication to the experience. We will definitely come back on our next trip.

This has to be one of coolest places in a small town that I have ever been. Think prohibition era. They had a band playing Cuban music and the drinks were amazing. The banana foster was also really good! You should probably make a reservation unless there is bar seating.

So many posers with signs saying “craft cocktails” This is only the second place I have ever visited that has earned the moniker. They actually know their stuff. Our bartender was an accomplished artisan which is truly rare. This was our favorite watering hole in New Bern. A

We had the honor of eating at this quaint establishment tonight. The exotic warmth of hardwoods, oversized padded leather chairs, and 3D copper ceiling tiles give this space a nostalgic vibe. I felt like I took a big step back in time to when things were simpler. Tables were few and not crowded. There are a couple of private, individual rooms upstairs that are equipped with couches and other living room comforts. We sat at one of the few tables on the second floor balcony, across the open space from the live piano player. I saw a drink delivered that struck me as amazing since it had a huge bubble on top, locking in the flavorful drink below. Our group thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Crab Tots and Barefoot Egg Roll, which were a delicious tease for the next course. Brazilian Steak was moist, flavorful, and mounded high, but the chimichurri sauce was found to be a bit too spicy for my friend (which is saying something since she's from Albuquerque NM). Sizzle Me Softly Flatbread was fresh, tasty, but sparsely topped. Fish and Chips were delicious, but it left my husband hungry for more as it came with only one piece of fish. I hit the jackpot with my order of a cocktail aptly named DEVIL'S TEARS (which was a tastebud treat!!) and the Short Rib and Brisket Ruben. It was piled high with both scrumptious meats, just enough sauerkraut and cheese, and crunchy homemade pickle slices. The curry ketchup was an escalated taste treat to the potato strips. We'll get dessert the next time, and there WILL BE a next time. Thank you, Roberto, for excellent service.

I visited New Bern from Cape Cod, Ma. This bar has a great vibe and atmosphere. There are different seating areas, and the live entertainment was fabulous, perched up on a balcony overlooking the bar. The cocktail menu was delicious with many fun choices. The host, bartenders and wait staff were great.

What a unique vibe they have created. My wife and I were driving from DC to our home in Florida and decided to spend two nights exploring Newbern, NC. Minutes after checking into our hotel (Hilton Tryon) we went to Baxter’s 1892 for dinner and live music. Tonight they were honoring Quincy Jones on the piano and it was excellent. We ordered 4 tapas items and my favorite was the empanadas. My wife loved the seasonal salad and she liked the goat cheese spinach dip. We also had the chicken skewers that were good but different. We ended our meal with a delicious version of bananas foster (actually every dessert sounded amazing). We met the head chef, Chris... as well as his son Dillion. Great guys and very proud of their restaurant. The hidden room on the mezzanine level behind the bookshelves is really cool. A throwback to speak-East’s of the 1920’s. The building was a jewelry store and they maintained much of the history. The clock out front is 101 years old. If you visit Newbern, check out this restaurant / bar for a unique experience.
